Latest on Nick

A few weeks ago he had surgery (12 hours) to try and repair some of the nerve damage in his right shoulder and arm. Apparently now, they've discovered he's leaking spinal fluid. He is having surgery today to try and find the leak and repair it.

He has been back in school and doing pretty well. Hopefully this set-back will not further impede his progress. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For the full story you can look here and here.

EDIT: Apparently I misunderstood what day the surgery would take place. It will be on Tuesday, March 4th.

Boho Rock

This card was done for CC155 - to use Whisper White, River Rock, & Basic Black. I used Boho Backgrounds & the Boho Wheel. This is also the first card I've made using Heat Embossing. I'll admit this card makes me a bit dizzy, but I like the color combo.

It's Been Awhile!

This card is for WT154 - to make a window card of some sort. I love these Elzybell stamps! She's such a cutie!
This card represents my wish for spring. Anyone familiar with Texas weather knows that our climate can change by the hour. The last couple days the temp has been around 87, today will be around 65, in the morning it's forecasted to be 33 warming up to 77. My wish is for less fluctuation and more mild temperatures.
Edit: stamp pad used was the Stampin Up! Celebration Spectrum pad - lots of colors at once!
This is for Beate's WSC36. I think my panel could be a bit smaller, but here it is anyway. I did the Rock n Roll technique for the round Boho stamp using Soft Sky & Blue Bayou.
This is for TLC157 over at Splitcoast. The challenge was to use 2 or more designer papers. This truely was a challenge for me. Since my style is more simple and graphic, I am not comfortable mixing patterns. And to top it off, I decided to further complicate it by making it a circle card inspired by Kristina (starofmay). What the heck was I thinking? I do like the way it turned out though.

Additional info on these card can be found in my Gallery at Splitcoast Stampers.

Thanx for looking and have a Blessed Day!

New Toy!

Check out what I just got~the coolest iPod EVER!

It's the iPod Touch and talk about cool! I'm managing to waste a lot of time playing with all the features! It holds about 1,000 songs - GAH! With my varied taste in music I may actually be able to fill it up! I made sure to add MIKA, Colbie Caillat, Sara Barielles, and OF COURSE Taylor Hicks & 80s tunes!

Bragging Rights - PROUD MOM ALERT!!!

Dana brought home a letter from school Friday. She's being considered for the National Junior Honor Society! It's for students with a 5.5+ GPA. She has to submit a form with all her activities and then they'll make a decision.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Good Sport

Dana's always wanted to take tennis. Unfortunately it never worked with her gymnastics schedule. Let's face it, when you're already practicing for 12-15 hrs/wk, there's not much room for anything else.

This year she had the chance to play on her middle school tennis team. I let her try, she got on, and now the tennis-gym tango is in full swing. Luckily it's after school and her coach is very flexible, letting her practice with the 8th graders as they practice the only 2 weekdays she doesn't have gym. Of course she will miss some gym for some games, but nothing major. If she can't play one week, we just let her tennis coach know. There are plenty of girls on the team and not everyone will get to play every time anyway.

Here are pictures from her first 2 games. She won the 1st game 4-2 in doubles. She lost the 2nd game 0-6, but she did actually improve. May not make sense, guess you kinda had to be there! ;)

Noteworthy Blog

The CHA (Craft & Hobby Show) is currently taking place in Anaheim, CA. Several member companies of Splitcoast Stampers are there and I've just learned of a blog that's aimed to keep us SCS members informed: http://scscha.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/

I guess they'll be posting photos and info about what's going on and, HOPEFULLY, lots of sneakypeaks of cool stuff that'll be coming out!

Challenges

Not to worry, these are the fun kind of challenges.

This first one is from last weeks' New Technique challenge to create a Dahlia card.
I used Cool Carribean, lovely Lilac, Pixie Pink, & DSP all from SU! The brad in the center is from a set my 7 yr old gave me for Christmas. I believe it's by Around the Block. The sentiment is from Flourished Words by Flourish.

This one is for last weeks' Sketch Challenge. This will go to my daughter's 2nd grade teacher.

This next item will also go to her teacher. I know the colors are different, but I love so many of these new SU sets and color combos, I'm feeling a bit ADD!

The Grinch is at it again!

First he stole my family Christmas pictures - which I still haven't found! Now he's taken my cable! It's the one that lets me hook up the camera to the laptop & upload pictures. And I've got a BUNCH! Y'all are missing out on cards I've made, Dana's tennis pictures, and cute Valentine's Day goodies I've made for Sarah's teacher and Brownie troop leaders.

How will you all manage to survive? LOL! Well hopefully you won't have to wait much longer, cuz I really need to empty the memory card! So keep your fingers crossed I find the darn thing. Better yet, come help me look!
